An ideal nose should be in harmony with the rest of the face. Rhinoplasty goals are to refine and reshape the nose according to patient’s ethnic background, age and skin type. Often chin enhancement will be recommended in conjunction with rhinoplasty, in order to improve facial balance and projection. The procedure is determined by the type of correction to be made. Incisions are typically within the nose, as well as on the outside. A lightweight outer splint maintains the new shape of the nose and is usually not needed within two weeks. While swelling can persist as long as a year, most bruising may be resolved by two weeks and patients can return to work with few restrictions.
