Chin Augmentation |
|
| The chin is an important component
of the overall facial profile. However, if the chin is
too small, a chin implant is required for correction. |
|
| The Procedure For Chin Augmentation |
|
|
A patient's chin may be augmented by placing an implant
in the area through a mouth incision made behind the
lower lip, or more commonly, through an external
incision under the chin. Small sutures are used to close
the incision, and external bandages are applied to the
area. |

After Your Chin Implant Surgery |
|
|
|
|
There is a minimal amount of
discomfort following your procedure. There will be
swelling and bruising that may last from seven to ten
days. Keeping your head elevated and apply cold
compresses will help to reduce swelling. As your
incisions heal, you will notice some itching and
possibly some numbness. These symptoms will diminish
over time. You may wear make-up after three days and
your sutures will dissolve in a few weeks. Strenuous
activity is restricted for six weeks.
Chewing may be difficult for four to seven days, and
brushing the teeth is sometimes difficult for several
days. |
